New Classroom Set-Up
This teacher was offered a change of classroom for the new school year and needed our help in organizing an ample amount of art and drafting supplies, math tools, and science experiment equipment. We worked with the client to plan for the purchase and implementation of new containers as well as labels to coordinate with the accent colours in the room.

Walk-in Pantry for Four
The goal in this space was to improve accessibility to all areas of the pantry, incorporate appliances and formal serving ware from elsewhere in the house, and refine zones food and supplies. Our client already uses square, stackable food containers which help to take advantage of the (ample!) vertical and horizontal pantry space. There wasn’t a need for overly fussy labels in this space, but temporary notes help everyone in the family become acquainted with the new layout.

Custom Wardrobe Solution
Our clients needed this spare bedroom to function as walk-in closet for two as well as a home office conducive to working from home. We worked with the client to create a unique and versatile storage solution which emphasizes maximum visibility and storage capacity. Shelves are separated into ‘his’ and ‘hers,” hoodie wall added for ease of accessing excess outerwear, and designated zones have been created for laundry to be washed and laundry to be put away.

Basement Shelving
An additional 4′ shelving unit was added to accommodate pre-sorted bins of keepsakes and seasonal items. The existing unit was reconfigured with an additional shelf and houses extra household items, decor, gift wrap, and laundry supplies. These heavy-duty commercial wire shelves work well because they are adjustable, let light through, and require less dusting.

Family Mudroom
This busy side entry hallway and walk-in coat closet were refreshed using the clients’ own furniture and containers. After sorting which items belong in other areas of the home, and setting aside items for donation, the remaining outerwear and accessories were reconfigured with adult coats on the upper rod, children’s coats on the lower, and out-of-season items stored up top. The space will be completed with a bench under the window, hooks further down the hall, and a small shoe rack inside the closet.

Kitchen Sink Cupboard
50% of the horizontal space under this kitchen sink was freed up by using a single $11 shelf to better capitalize on the available vertical space. Not a single product was removed! Refills, backstock, and less-used items are at the back, shorter items are in the bin underneath the rack, and the most frequently used products are on top and easy to grab.

His and Hers Master Closet
The traditional closet shelving and rod have been removed in this master closet and replaced with the highly-customizable Ikea Aurdal system. The center section accommodates two laundry baskets (for light and dark loads), a standing-height vanity area with cosmetics stored in the drawer, and open shelving above. His clothes are hung on the left, with formal wear at the back and a shared shoe cubby below. Her clothes are on hung on two rods on the right. The upper rod holds tops hung by sleeve length and colour, and the lower rod holds sweaters, dresses, and pants. A unified wardrobe, matching hangers, and a bit of decor make the open style shelving easier to maintain.

Small Linen Closet
The shelving in this small linen closet was replaced with the customizable Boaxel system from Ikea. The shelf heights are adjustable using brackets, allowing for the storage of unusually sized items (such as the vacuum), as well as the potential for adding additional shelves in the future. Wire shelving was chosen to reduce the need to dust and to improve light penetration into the closet. The colour uniformity of the blankets, sheets, pillow cases, bath and hand towels, and table linens in this closet, along with the square woven baskets in natural tones, help to create a cohesive finished look.

Winter Refrigerator Clean-Out
Did you know November 15th is Clean out Your Fridge Day? This fridge needed a quick pick-me-up to get ready for the holiday baking season. The left hand door houses dips, dressings, and hot sauces and the shelves have been adjusted to accommodate unusual sized bottles. The right hand door houses syrups, condiments, and preserves. The center is organized top to bottom with leftovers and beverages on top (warmest), dairy in the middle, fruit and vegetables in the crisper drawers, and meats and cheeses in the bottom drawer (coldest).
Everything inside is now visible, within the best before date, and space has been made for the next grocery shop!

Pantry for Two
This coat-closet-turned-pantry was replaced with a Hauga storage cabinet from Ikea and accommodates the snacks, hot drinks, cooking and baking ingredients and back stock for a family of two. Many pantry items were already containerized, so some black gift box lids/bottoms (already on hand!) and a few black dollar store baskets ($5!) were added to complete the colour scheme and pull the look together.
